Lisa is a practicum student at Stronger Together and the chair of our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Advisory Board. She is currently completing her doctorate in clinical psychology at Alliant International University. She also holds a master’s degree in leadership from Saybrook University and The National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS).
Lisa believes that therapy is a collaborative process in which individuals can increase self-awareness, gain new perspectives, address challenges, and increase personal strengths to develop a more meaningful life experience. She strives to create a warm and welcoming environment for the people she serves. Understanding and appreciating the culture and individual experiences of every person is foundationally important to Lisa’s approach to therapy. She believes everyone should have a safe, considerate, and healing space to work through life's difficulties.
Lisa has experience working with trauma, substance use, post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, depression, transitions and adjustments, identity development, communication, and group dynamics. She is also a certified yoga instructor. Lisa has special training and interest in facilitating trauma-informed yoga classes sensitively designed to benefit people experiencing the mental and physical effects of trauma. She believes movement and mind-body awareness can help us tune into our emotions. Lisa has taught trauma-informed yoga and mindfulness classes for people incarcerated in San Diego Central Jail since 2018.
Nature is a very healing place for Lisa. She enjoys exploring the outdoors and spends her free time hiking, backpacking, rock climbing, and appreciating the wilderness. She can’t wait to take a nature walk, participate in some outdoor yoga, or breathe in some fresh mountain air with you soon!
